Collaborated with Product Development and Software Engineering team to define and implement innovative solutions for the Product Direction, Visuals, Prototypes, Frontend Engineering in SASS and React, and User Interaction. The redesign of the new Presentations App offers an intuitive way for Casting Directors to audition actors and models for specific roles and highlighting the best talent. At the same time presenting talent to studios for film, commercial, and print casting.

Problem

The presentations experience was outdated and didn't provide Casting Directors with efficient solutions for reviewing auditions and providing feedback.

Process

Exploring and researching different media heavy applications such as iTunes and state changes for a smooth, easy to understand casting experience.

Solution

Through research and experimentation, we came up with a design that was efficient, modern, and intuitive. We also modernized the UI and codebase so users would be familiar with the concept and components could easily be updated in React. In a grid, each grid item is a group of auditions. The grid item then opens a drawer where the audition video or images can be viewed and feedback can be provided in both a light and dark theme.

Reflection

Understanding the many constraints helped refine the design solution. This project reminded me as a designer to keep architecture in mind when mapping web components. I designed it in a way to make production efficient while also making the best experience for the user. I believe the product that shipped was a design that was intuitive and worked great with the ways Casting Directors view auditions and provide feedback to make decisions.
